Terms of Service

The terms for using Code Dock: accounts, acceptable use and the licences for its writing and code samples.

Who runs the site

Code Dock is a one-person project: a developer's workshop where things get built, documented and shared as stories and playbooks. These terms are between you and the person who runs it.

By using the site or creating an account, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Accounts

You can read everything on the site without an account. A free member account keeps your playbook progress and saved items in sync between devices.

To create one you need an email address you can receive mail at, and you must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live (and at least 13).

Keep your sign-in details safe: choose a password of at least 12 characters that you don't use elsewhere, and don't share your account. You are responsible for what happens under it. If you think someone else has used it, reset your password and end your other sessions from the Security page.

Team accounts, which can write or manage content, are granted only by invitation from the site's Admin. A team role can be changed or removed at any time.

Acceptable use

Use the site for learning and reading. Don't try to break, overload or get around its security, don't access accounts or areas that aren't yours, and don't use it to harm others or to break the law.

Automated reading is fine at a polite pace and within robots.txt. Bulk copying the site to republish it as your own is not.

An account that breaks these rules may be suspended or removed.

Licences

Written content (stories, playbooks and changelog entries) is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). You may share and adapt it, including commercially, as long as you credit Code Dock and link back to the original.

Code samples in that content are licensed under the MIT License. You may use, copy, modify and distribute them, in your own projects or otherwise, with no warranty.

Names, logos and third-party material quoted or linked from the site keep their own owners and licences.

No warranty

The site, its content and its code samples are provided as they are, without any warranty. They are written carefully but may contain mistakes or become out of date. Check anything you rely on, especially before running code against real systems.

To the extent the law allows, Code Dock is not liable for any loss that comes from using the site or its content.

Ending an account

You can delete your member account at any time from the Security page. Deletion is immediate and permanent; the Privacy Policy explains what is removed and what is kept.

An account may be suspended or removed if it breaks these terms, or if the site closes. Where possible you will be told first, by email.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change, the new version is published on this page and the "Last updated" date changes. Using the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
